Dear friends,
Do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it?

For instance, you come upon an old friend dressed in rags and half-starved and say, “Good morning, friend! Be clothed in Christ! Be filled with the Holy Spirit!” and walk off without providing so much as a coat or a cup of soup—where does that get you?

Isn’t it obvious that God-talk without God-acts is outrageous nonsense? James 2:14-17

There are lots of opportunities across Church Wigan to put your faith into action. If you are interested in finding out what's available please speak to a leader in your Worship Community or email us and we'll help you find something to fit your skills and interests.

Below we list things that Church Wigan supports

Alpha

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith. No pressure. No follow up. No charge.

Exploring is good. We're built for it. But for all our searching it's rare to find time to think, and talk, about the big questions of life; about faith and reason and God and meaning.

Alpha runs around the globe, and everyone's welcome. At Alpha you'll get food, a talk and good conversation.

We run Alpha across Church Wigan each autum, and inbetween times when needed. Alpha is always in need of volunteers to lead and host, get in touch with the Alpha coordinators to ask about volunteering.

Order of Prayer

The Order of Prayer is a group of ordinary Christians in Wigan, making a commitment to pray daily that everyone in our communities would know Christ's love. We believe: Jesus gave His life in love for our neighbours; that the Holy Spirit will bring transformation to individuals, families, communities, nations; our prayer will make a real difference. Jesus has promised this.

Could you commit?
Are you able to dedicate time very day, for a year, to lifting our communities before God?
Are you able to join in meeting monthly, as part of a Wigan-wide prayer time, committing to an hour focused on waiting on God?
Do you know you'll struggle? Good, we all will, but is God still calling you?

If you would like to explore joining the Order of Prayer you can contact Rev Philip by emailing areadeanwigan@gmail.com or call him on 01942 375209.

Safe Families for Children

As the Safe Families website will tell you “Safe Families for Children (Safe Families) works hand-in-hand with children’s services to link families in need with local volunteers who can offer them help and support.”

Those volunteers are people from Church Wigan, and the help they provide is the same as you would give those who are close to you. Safe Families aims to link the Church family with families in need, sharing your time and resources.

If you're interested in knowing more or getting involved please contact safefamilies@churchwigan.org
